Press Release Body = Lowell, MA - (July 13, 2006)MediaMate is a one-of-a kind company which focuses directly on assisting colleges manage all aspects of their newspaper advertising. A few short years ago MediaMate was just an idea taped to a cement wall in a basement with a dog and cat as officemates. Now partnering with 15 colleges nationally and over 30 more in the queue, MediaMate is proving that collegiate marketing challenges are history 101.
Two former UMass student editors, Brad Duquette and Chris Lefebvre, started MediaMate to assist student editors, advisors, and part-time faculty solicit and manage advertising on campus. Once a college is signed up, MediaMate handles all of the media inventory of national advertisers, incoming insertion orders, creative management, billing, collections, and proof of insertion for the student publication. Colleges simply place the ads and collect the check each month; MediaMate takes care of the rest.
College administrations now realize that top-tier advertisers are targeting college-age consumers on college campuses, and that the revenues generated are a new source of income that can be used to support student life.
"Our system makes it easy not only for the college, but for the advertiser as well," says Brad Duquette, Chief Executive Officer and co-founder of MediaMate. "Student publications have been accepting advertisements for years but the problem is, without a full time staff, management of insertions is virtually impossible, resulting in lost revenue," he added.
MediaMate is the first turnkey solution to answer this need and both administrators and students see it as a win-win relationship. "MediaMate contacts advertisers during the summertime, something a college newspaper staff doesn't always have the personnel to handle," says William Pearce, editor-in-chief of Babson College, a MediaMate partnered school.
Brendan Clemenzi, chief technology officer and principle of MediaMate, has developed a publications order process system (POPS) that is capable of tracking and managing thousands of insertion orders daily. POPS is the only software of its kind and was built with a complete understanding of how collegiate marketing transpires from planning to implementation. Clemenzi's software provides MediaMate a custom fit way to manage their business transactions.
